The Growth Group

If you are interested in learning about your own psychological patterns and finding healthier ways to cope, the Growth Group is a safe and enjoyable space to achieve this. At £20 per 75-minute session this is a more affordable way to find support than individual therapy.
Each group is a maximum of 6 people who meet for 6 sessions. I use my ten years of teaching experience to make learning about psychotherapy and neurobiology theories interesting and accessible. This is not group therapy, but does provide a therapeutic space in which to learn, reflect and share experiences if you wish.
Example topics we will cover:
-
How the nervous system responds to stress and trauma, and how to soothe it.
-
How your body keeps the score; what are your symptoms telling you?
-
Self-defeating behaviours; why they develop and how we can change.
-
Being a human in a quantum universe; why we don't thrive in isolation and how to foster togetherness.
-
Understanding communication difficulties in relationships and how to spot invitations into unhelpful games.
-
The Drama Triangle and how to step out of it.
-
Many more! I can also curate sessions depending on the needs of the group.
When? Every fortnight on Mondays 6:00-7:15pm (next group starting in April and will meet 6 times). Please contact me for dates: carolinetophamtherapy@gmail.com
Where? The Manchester Institute for Psychotherapy in Chorlton, Manchester.
How much? £20 per session makes this a more affordable option than individual therapy. I ask that you commit to all 6 sessions to support the group dynamic, so the total cost over 12 weeks is £120. You are welcome to 'pay as you go' if that is more accessible to you.
Who? Anyone over the age of 18. I speak with each member in advance to check the group is the right kind of experience for you at your stage of self-discovery. Apologies but the Institute is only accessible via steps and our room is on the first floor. I intend to find a more accessible venue in the near future. This group is not suitable for people currently in a mental health crisis.
